I break my not-exactly-vow of silence to let you all know that my short story ‘Outcast’s Tale’ has won the Issue 4 contest at Enchanted Conversation.
The challenge was to write a story from the point of view of the duck that carries Hansel and Gretel across the river. You can read my story, which the editor kindly calls ‘complex,’ here. Read the winning poem, too—engaging and hysterical. We need more of that in fairy tale retelling.
I was proud to publish your story and the poem!
That is one captivating, lovely little piece. I especially liked the way you ended it. Well done.
Peace to you and yours, and Merry Christmas! 🙂
What a brilliant story, congratulations!
Katew, Jenna, and Claire–thanks! It was a joy and a trial to write. Glad it seems to have been worth it!
